Stepping into Comfort The Science Behind Custom OrthoticsAre you tired of discomfort with every step? Do you suffer from foot pain that seems to never fade away? If so, custom orthotics may be the answer you’ve been searching for. At Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery, we understand the importance of personalized care, which is why we offer custom orthotics tailored specifically to your unique foot anatomy. As podiatrists, we can perform a full foot examination to determine the source of your pain, and treatment of such may include a custom orthotic. In this post, we’ll delve into the intricate process of creating custom orthotics and shed light on how they can transform your walking experience.

The Art of Custom Orthotics:

Custom orthotics are not your average shoe inserts. They are meticulously crafted to address your individual foot mechanics and provide optimal support and alignment. Our process begins with a detailed digitized scan of your foot, capturing every contour and curve with precision.

From Digital to Reality:

Once we have the digital three dimensional scan of your foot, we utilize state-of-the-art CAD (Computer-Aided Design) technology to create a rectified model. This model serves as the blueprint for your custom orthotics, ensuring a perfect fit and alignment. But how do we transform this digital model into a tangible orthotic? The answer lies in direct carving with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology.

Craftsmanship Meets Technology:

At Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery, we partner with Earthwalk Orthotics Lab, located in Ohio, renowned for their expertise in orthotic fabrication. Using advanced CAM technology, the rectified CAD model is transformed into a physical orthotic with unparalleled precision. Each orthotic is meticulously crafted to meet our exact specifications, guaranteeing superior quality and performance.

Earthwalk Orthotics is a well-established ABC accredited (American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics) centralized fabrication facility with a long-standing track record as a leading manufacturer of premium quality American made prescription orthotics.

Earthwalk exclusively makes and distributes its high-quality prescription foot orthotics and AFO bracing to an established provider network of experienced physicians and medical practitioners (products never sold retail) that are highly trained in biomechanics of the lower extremities to address foot pain with prescription orthotics.

Since 1995, Earthwalk’s providers have (and will continue to) proudly and successfully dispensed hundreds of thousands of foot orthoses to their patients (including many of America’s veterans at the various VA centers, active-duty services members at numerous military bases, and collegiate and professional athletes).

Insurance Considerations:

While custom orthotics offer immense benefits, it’s important to note that insurance coverage may vary. In many cases, insurance providers do not cover the cost of custom orthotics. Therefore, we recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your coverage options before proceeding with treatment.

Benefits Beyond Comfort:

Custom orthotics offer far more than just relief from foot pain. By correcting alignment and providing optimal support, they can alleviate discomfort not only in your feet but also in your knees, hips, and lower back. Whether you’re an athlete looking to enhance performance or someone seeking everyday comfort, custom orthotics can make a significant difference in your quality of life.

Don’t let foot discomfort hold you back any longer. Our personalized approach ensures that your orthotics are tailored to your unique needs, providing unmatched support and relief. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and experience the difference custom orthotics can make in your life!
