Foot and ankle care for Bethel patients at our Newtown office
Foot problems do not always begin with severe pain. You might notice a little soreness after a long workday, stiffness when you first get out of bed, or discomfort that gradually makes your favorite activities harder to enjoy. These symptoms can become frustrating when they keep returning or do not improve with rest.
Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery provides podiatry care for Bethel, CT, residents at our Newtown office. We treat common concerns such as heel pain, bunions, and ingrown toenails, along with more complicated conditions involving the bones, joints, and tendons of the feet and ankles.
Our podiatrists make sure to listen to your story about your pain and how it is interfering with your day-to-day activities. No matter whether you need relief for an ongoing problem or have suffered a new injury, our staff is here to discuss your options.
Foot and ankle pain can develop for different reasons. Some conditions are caused by repeated pressure or overuse, while others involve injuries, changes in foot structure, or underlying health concerns.
Our podiatrists treat a wide range of conditions, including:
If your symptoms are affecting your ability to stay active or get through the day comfortably, a podiatry evaluation can help determine what is happening and what treatment might be appropriate.

When foot pain keeps returning, treating the sore spot alone may not be enough. The problem could involve how your foot moves, the pressure placed on certain joints, or changes in your daily activities.
At Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery, an examination begins with understanding your symptoms and how they developed. Our podiatrists also consider factors such as footwear, walking patterns, and previous injuries to help identify what might be contributing to the discomfort.
Diagnostic imaging or additional testing may be recommended when a closer look is needed. Once the cause is identified, we can discuss treatment options that address your specific condition.
Many foot and ankle problems can be managed without surgery. Depending on your diagnosis, treatment may involve supportive footwear, orthotics, medication, injections, or adjustments to your daily activities.
Some conditions benefit from additional treatment, particularly when pain has continued for an extended period. Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery offers options such as shockwave therapy for certain soft tissue conditions. Surgical treatment may also be considered when other approaches have not provided enough relief or when the condition requires correction.
Our podiatrists explain what each treatment involves so you can make an informed decision about your care.
Foot and ankle pain should not keep you from your normal routine. Our team will do our best to find an appointment time that works for your schedule.

The podiatrists in Bethel not only treat their patients for immediate foot pain. They help you understand the reason behind it, its probability of recurrence, and ways of prevention so that it would not impede your day-to-day activity.
At Vale Foot and Ankle Surgery, we approach these concerns by looking at how your condition affects the activities that matter to you. Someone who stands for hours at work may need a different approach than someone experiencing pain during exercise or recovering from an ankle injury.
Our Newtown office gives Bethel patients access to both non-surgical and surgical care within one practice. This allows you to discuss different treatment options with a team familiar with your condition, rather than starting over with a new provider if your needs change.
We want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and understanding the reasons behind their treatment recommendations. Whether you are visiting for a new concern or a problem that has been bothering you for years, your care should reflect your symptoms and personal needs.

Leader in Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery
Dr. Khoa Nguyen is a triple board-certified foot and ankle surgeon and nationally recognized leader in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery. Having performed more than 10,000 foot and ankle procedures, including over 2,500 minimally invasive bunion surgeries, he is among Connecticut’s most experienced minimally invasive bunion surgeons.
What sets Dr. Nguyen apart is his commitment to individualized care. He has extensive experience with more than 10 minimally invasive bunion systems from leading medical device manufacturers. This allows him to select the technology and technique best suited to each patient’s anatomy, deformity, lifestyle, and goals.
As one of the early pioneers of minimally invasive bunion surgery in the United States, Dr. Nguyen has spent more than a decade advancing surgical techniques that reduce pain, minimize scarring, shorten recovery, and improve long-term outcomes. He completed advanced fellowship training in Austria, where he trained and collaborated alongside internationally recognized foot and ankle surgeons in many of today’s most advanced reconstructive and minimally invasive procedures.
Today, Dr. Nguyen is frequently invited to lecture nationally and internationally, educating surgeons and residents on advanced foot and ankle surgery. He also serves as a U.S. Board Member for Surgebright and was among the first surgeons in the United States to perform bunion correction using human cortical bone screw technology, helping introduce one of the newest biologic fixation options to American patients.
Dr. Nguyen is also recognized for his expertise in all-natural bunion correction, an innovative approach that allows appropriately selected patients to avoid permanent metal implants while preserving the foot’s natural anatomy.
Whether treating bunions, arthritis, sports injuries, fractures, tendon disorders, ankle instability, or complex foot and ankle deformities, Dr. Nguyen believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan centered on the least invasive solution that provides the best possible long-term outcome. His mission is simple: to help every patient recover with less pain, regain mobility sooner, and return to the activities they love.
